Message from 2010 Conference Chair, Lyndon Johnson

Are You Growing?

2010 Multi-Unit Franchising Conference takes it to the next level

As multi-unit franchisees, we are living and working in unprecedented times. The recent economic turmoil has been truly remarkable, but from where I sit I know that it has also played an important role in strengthening many businesses. There’s an old saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I concur. That’s been my experience, and the experience of many other multi-unit franchisee operators I know.

During the last year or so I have had to knuckle down and buckle up with my own operations. It’s been back to basics and back to fundamentals. I’ve reexamined my people, my teams, our customer service, and the delivery of our products. If you haven’t been doing this, I recommend it. I think you’ll like what you discover, and you’ll be able to address any changes or corrections that need to be implemented. There’s really no better time to search within than at the dawn of 2010.

Personally, I’m very optimistic as we begin a new year. It’s the perfect time to take stock of what we’ve been doing and begin to move forward in fresh, calculated, and even progressive ways. To be successful in today’s business climate, we must think in terms of relevancy, retooling, and reinventing some of the ways in which we operate. What is your value proposition? Where are you on price, service, convenience, availability, and all the other factors that go into a successful franchise business? Are you where you’d like to be? This is the kind of thinking that should be taking place, and if you’re serious about it, you’ll be looking for resources.

Look no further than the 2010 Multi-Unit Franchising Conference. I’ve attended this conference over the years and have seen it grow into one of the premier industry events for aggressive, growing multi-unit franchisee operators. Whether you’re looking for insightful information to help build your existing business or you’re ready to grow into other brands and different concepts, this is the place to be. This is the venue that can give you an edge. And this year even more so.

It’s precisely because of the recent economy that I believe this year’s conference will be better than ever. The tough past few months have tempered many in our industry and made them stronger. Multi-unit franchisees, vendors, bankers, and many others who have been through the fire will bring their newly earned experience and insight to the conference to share with others. But that’s not all. This year’s event will, more than ever, drill down more deeply and focus even more intensely on the pivotal topics that need more discussion, more attention, and simply more time. The 2010 Multi-Unit Franchising Conference is taking it to the next level. After all, it’s about ROI. I plan to be in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort March 24–26 for one investment that I know will reap rewards.

Hope to see you there!
